The lead magnet you choose changes everything: your conversion rate, the kind of subscriber you attract, and whether they buy from you later.
Checklist (highest conversion) A one-page PDF that helps the visitor do one specific thing. Fast to consume. Feels like an "easy yes." Best for: top-of-funnel list growth.
Template (highest perceived value) Something the visitor can copy and use. Spreadsheets, swipe files, scripts. Subscribers feel they got real, tangible work for free. Best for: B2B and creator audiences.
eBook / Guide (highest authority) 10–40 pages on a focused topic. Establishes you as the expert. Lower conversion than a checklist, higher quality of subscriber. Best for: positioning yourself as a thought leader.
Email course (highest engagement) A 5–7 day drip sequence. Each day delivers one lesson. Subscribers stay engaged through the whole sequence, which warms them up before any pitch. Best for: list-to-customer conversion.
Webinar (highest sales conversion) A live or evergreen video presentation. Highest commitment to opt in, but the people who show up are pre-sold. Best for: launching a paid offer.
Rule of thumb: if you don't have a paid offer yet, start with a checklist. If you do, choose the magnet that mirrors how your customer will eventually buy.
